Electric vehicle (EV)-related complaints filed with the government have nearly doubled over the past three years, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission said Tuesday. About 173,000 EV-related complaints and petitions were filed with the government's online petition portal and local governments between August 2023 and July this year, with the average monthly complaints rising 1.8-fold to 6,578 cases from 3,683 in 2023, according to the commission. The commission has issued a "complaints advisory," a warning system triggered when petitions in a specific sector rise sharply. Many of the petitions and complaints were about violations of charging area rules and demands for more charging facilities. The commission said it has recommended related agencies strengthen oversight of charging areas, improve maintenance and expand charging infrastructure.
