Novel 2D materials offer quantum breakthroughs as research ecosystem targets sub-1nm era
Taiwan's National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) is accelerating efforts to advance chip manufacturing beyond the 1nm node, targeting key breakthroughs in next-generation materials, device architectures, manufacturing processes, advanced packaging, and metrology. Research institutions across Taiwan are focusing heavily on two-dimensional (2D) materials, celebrated for their atomic-scale thickness and superior gate-control capabilities, to help the semiconductor industry overcome bottlenecks in large-area, high-yield production and maintain Taiwan's technological lead in sub-1nm nodes.
