The event comes just a couple of weeks after Apple debuted the <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1009704/apple-homeview-smart-display-first-look">HomeView</a>, its first smart display, and a little over a month after it announced the <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/991203/iphone-duo-foldable-news-specs-price-release-date">iPhone Duo</a>, its first foldable. Its next event could feature yet another first for Apple: a MacBook with a touchscreen.</p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph">A few devices received updates in the days leading up to the event. Apple announced <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1017801/ipad-mini-oled-display-apple-announce" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1017801/ipad-mini-oled-display-apple-announce">an updated iPad Mini with a larger OLED display</a> on Monday. The <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1018467/apple-imac-m6-chip-announced-price-release">iMac</a> and <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1017664/apple-macbook-pro-m6-processor-upgrade" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1017664/apple-macbook-pro-m6-processor-upgrade">entry-level MacBook Pro</a> were refreshed with M6 chips on Tuesday. Both are likely to pop up at Wednesday’s event, but their early announcement clears the way for a touchscreen MacBook to be the star of the show.</p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph">This event will also continue a streak of product launches at Apple since <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/987150/apple-ceo-john-ternus">John Ternus took over as its CEO</a> on September 1st. So far, the flurry of new devices has also included the <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/986331/apple-iphone-18-pro-max-september-2026-event" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/986331/apple-iphone-18-pro-max-september-2026-event">iPhone 18 Pro</a>, new <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/991812/apple-watch-series-12-announcement" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/991812/apple-watch-series-12-announcement">Apple</a> <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/990290/apple-watch-ultra-4-smartwatch-wearable-availability-pricing" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/990290/apple-watch-ultra-4-smartwatch-wearable-availability-pricing">Watches</a>, the <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/988479/apple-airpods-5-announcement-september-2026-event" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/988479/apple-airpods-5-announcement-september-2026-event">AirPods 5</a>, and the <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1009672/homepod-mini-2-announced-apple-siri-ai" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1009672/homepod-mini-2-announced-apple-siri-ai">HomePod Mini 2</a>.</p> <p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Follow along here for all the latest news and updates.</em></p> <ul> <li> <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1018467/apple-imac-m6-chip-announced-price-release">Apple refreshes the iMac with M6 chips</a> </li> <li> <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1017664/apple-macbook-pro-m6-processor-upgrade">Apple updates the MacBook Pro with M6 chips</a> </li> <li> <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1018638/apple-pro-tell-event-ipad-mini-oled-macbook-pro">Apple’s Greg Joswiak teases an ‘exciting week.’</a> </li> <li> <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1018169/what-to-expect-apple-pro-and-tell-event-touchscreen-macbook-pro">What to expect from Apple’s ‘Pro and tell’ event</a> </li> <li> <a href="https://www.theverge.com/tech/1013028/apple-second-october-product-launch-announcement">Apple teases MacBook Pro event next week</a> </li> </ul>
