Trump-Xi summit yields few concessions but keeps the rivals talking
Neither Washington nor Beijing gave much ground during Chinese President Xi Jinping's September 23-25 state visit, and analysts in both countries largely agree. The summit did deliver a shared commitment to keep negotiating as competition between the two powers intensifies. The truce that holds tariffs down was extended rather than rebuilt, and the hard questions were deferred to meetings later this year.
