Robotaxis intensify charging infrastructure pressure, could drive over 35% of North American EV power demand by 2030

As autonomous driving technology continues to advance, robotaxis are expected to significantly reshape global EV charging demand. Charging solutions provider ChargePoint forecasts that 8 million robotaxis will be operating in North America by 2030, potentially accounting for more than 35% of the region's total electricity demand from EVs. In Europe, their share is expected to exceed 10%.
